The last two weeks have been extremely busy. I’ve lived in the hospital to interview all the people that I wanted to speak to. In the beginning, it was quite easy, but after the 6th interview almost nobody wanted to talk to me anymore. Therefore I went to another ward (family medicine); this ward embraced me and I was able to do 5 interviews on one day. There were 3 doctors who took a lot of time to talk to me. That was really great because they could give me a lot of information that I needed. I am currently analysing the data that I gathered through the interviews. This is a lot of work, but I’m slowly getting there.
Besides all the school-related stuff, I had a lot of fun as well in the past two weeks. Especially last week was great because I spent quite a lot of time to ‘fun activities’. 3 of my housemates went to Cape Town to see family and friends. This meant that I had the house for myself… kind of! I had to ‘share’ the house with Jana, but it was really nice. We had a picknick at the beach, we went to the mall and we had a little trip to ‘Mosselbaai’. It was so nice to have a little bit of rest (which is actually quite strange for me to say since I’m the loudest of all…).
The absolute highlight of the past two weeks was Easter Weekend. Jana, me and 3 people we met over here rented a house in ‘the big Karoo’. This is an enormous desert-like area. It was amazing to drive for hours and not see a single thing, except for maybe 5 or 6 cars and some farms. It was so amazing to escape from reality for a weekend. I really ‘recharged my battery’ and I am ready to finish my thesis in a couple of weeks!
